Forty percent of our revenue is export, we deliver also to Mexico
Autopro: Julius-Globe Kft. is a small venture near Győr, and has been quietly active in the car industry for more than twenty years. They are hardly noted, though they have already implemented several large-scale projects. Would you ever have thought that safety parts heat treatment process for oil wells are also developed in Győrújbarát? We interviewed Gyula RÁCZ managing director.
“How would you summarise the company’s activities?”
“During the nearly 20 years, our company has been continuously developing. At the beginning, we were engaged in the assembly and processing of electronic and mechanical parts almost exclusively for the car industry. Currently, we supply our products to more than 9 industries, mostly to the car industry, but we supply them also to the packaging, press, high-tech, energy, machine, plastic, electronic, tobacco and medical device manufacturing sectors. Today, we are engaged also in CNC machining of precision parts, the design and manufacture of production lines and measuring instruments.”
“What products do you manufacture? What are the references you would highlight?”
“Our precision parts, the assembly workshops, production lines, assembly devices, tools, special machines, equipment, final inspection devices, functional gauges for the control of mechanical parts, manual measuring instruments with dials and clamping devices for 3D measuring machines, all designed by us, are known on both the national and foreign markets. Almost 40% of our incomes comes from exports. We supply our products to seven European countries, mostly to German, Holland, Austrian and Swiss multinational companies, but we supply products indirectly also to markets outside Europe, such as Mexico. Our references include Robert Bosch, Schaeffler, Körber, Besi and the KBA group, but we supply also to Audi, Federal Mogul, Coperion, Siemens and BOS.”
“What is your connection to the fourth industrial revolution?”
“We follow also developments made in Industry 4.0, which we integrate into the equipment and devices designed, manufactured and commissioned by us, e.g. the laser and optical sensor networks, camera systems and automated assembly systems. This is how we promote the development of the production processes and the improvement of the production capacity of our customers.”
“Are developments expected in the future? In what tenders do you intend to take part?”
“Due to our success in tool and experimental research & development tenders of the recent years, we have been able to implement efficient investments by means of which we can provide a wider technological range for our customers. In the last two years, we acquired several CNC machine tools, CNC turning machines, CNC grinders and 3D coordinate measuring machines. We have been performing experimental research & development activities on behalf of Hungarian and foreign partner companies for years. It was a great challenge when in 2015, Adient, the former Johnson Controls requested our company to take part in experimental research & development within the consortium. The head of the consortium appointed Julius-Globe to design certain prototype parts for three 3000 series prototype product groups and to perform their experimental manufacture. The project and the tender were successfully closed at the end of 2017. There is still one tender project in process, in the framework of which we shall spend nearly EUR one million on developments.”
“What researches & development projects have been implemented?”
“In the recent years, we have been asked by our customers to perform R&D tasks on several occasions. Our projects already implemented include the development of an engine block contamination testing device, specific improvement of a surface roughness measuring instrument provided with a digital display, support of the development of the production process of a glass roof shutter, anti-adhesive and wear-resistance experiment with the surface material of a raw material forwarding roller, experiment with and introduction of raw material dependant optimal coats, integration of special technologies and measuring instruments with production process changes in our customers’ production. In addition, we are engaged in experiments with the production of medical devices, the development of a new thermal treatment procedure for the safety parts and units of oil wells, the design and construction of propellers made from a single material, and the air-current testing of propellers with straight and twisted blades.”
“The strengthening of the connection of education and the industry has been a central issue for years in order to mitigate the labour problem. You support a competition team of students of Győr, Szengine, as a sponsor for years. What cooperation does it in mean in practice? What is the support you can give them?”
“Yes, our company has been supporting the work of these talented young people for years. We often mill products for them at their request. Last time, we manufactured parts for the indication of the cylinder pressure. With the use of the assemble inserts, the team was able to properly fasten the piezo crystal sensor in the cylinder head of their engine. And last year, we helped them in the preparation of the manufacture of EV05 engine crankshaft. We follow their work. We are happy to see how many talented and motivated young people are in the team and that they have enough time to develop engines and compete beyond their studies and examinations.
